SKF and Leaderdrive partner to fuel humanoid robotics production

Swedish bearing giant SKF and Chinese precision component manufacturer Leaderdrive have launched a joint venture to produce high-precision transmission parts for humanoid robots. By securing a 60% majority stake, SKF aims to accelerate its entry into the rapidly expanding industrial sector powered by Embodied AI technology.

The partnership combines Leaderdrive’s specialized expertise in robotic automation with SKF’s established manufacturing scale and bearing technology. Based in China, the new venture will focus on developing reliable joint components capable of sustaining the continuous, high-intensity operation required for industrial humanoids. The companies anticipate the facility will be operational by the end of 2026.

Henry Wang, President of SKF’s Industrial Region for China and North-East Asia, noted that the venture provides the agility needed to keep pace with rapid market iterations. Leaderdrive Chairman Yuyu Zuo added that the collaboration addresses the critical need for stable, high-performance transmission components as the humanoid industry moves toward mass production. While the venture will primarily serve the Chinese market, it plans to leverage SKF’s global sales infrastructure to reach customers in the US, Europe, and Japan.
