Spring Hill Elementary Assistant Named FCPS 2026 Outstanding Employee

Kimberly Roman, an instructional assistant at Spring Hill Elementary School and a current University of Phoenix student, has been named the 2026 Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee by Fairfax County Public Schools. The award honors her decade-long dedication to supporting students with autism and fostering strong ties within the school community.

Roman serves in a preschool classroom where she applies behavior analysis strategies to support students on the autism spectrum. Beyond her direct classroom duties, she is recognized for mentoring colleagues and providing guidance to families navigating new diagnoses. This dual focus on professional development and hands-on support is central to her current academic pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.

Pamela Roggeman, dean of the College of Education at the University of Phoenix, noted that Roman’s work demonstrates the impact of committed educators on school environments. For Roman, the recognition serves as a bridge between her daily responsibilities at Spring Hill and her long-term educational goals, reinforcing her commitment to helping young learners build confidence in a supportive setting.
