Based in Zurich, Salesny will maintain her dual responsibilities by continuing to serve as chief commercial officer, a role she assumed following Amundi’s 2024 acquisition of the firm. She succeeds Peter Derendinger, who announced his retirement as part of a long-term succession plan. Derendinger will retain influence within the organization by keeping his seats on the board of directors and the investment committee.
Petra Salesny Named CEO of Amundi Alpha Associates
After two decades of shaping the firm’s strategy, founding partner Petra Salesny is stepping into the role of chief executive officer at Amundi Alpha Associates. She takes the helm of the €24 billion private markets unit as it navigates a period of global expansion and shifting investment priorities.
The leadership transition arrives as major asset managers identify private equity, infrastructure, and private debt as critical growth areas for 2026. Salesny brings extensive experience to the role, having been a founding partner of the Zurich-headquartered entity in 2004. Her career includes tenure as chief operations officer at Swiss Life Private Equity Partners and legal advisory work at Bank Vontobel. Admitted to the New York Bar, she holds a PhD from the University of Basel and a master of laws from New York University, providing a strong legal foundation for managing the firm’s complex cross-border transactions.
