The partnership grants AstraZeneca entry into the Helix Research Network, a precision health infrastructure that integrates genomic profiles with 13 years of electronic health record history. By utilizing these deeply phenotyped datasets, researchers can track patient journeys and refine their understanding of disease progression.
AstraZeneca Partners with Helix to Scale Genomic Drug Discovery
AstraZeneca has signed a multi-year agreement with enterprise genomics firm Helix, securing access to the company’s extensive GenoSphere cohorts. The collaboration aims to leverage de-identified, longitudinal clinical data and Exome+ sequencing to accelerate the identification of therapeutic targets across cardiometabolic, respiratory, and autoimmune disease categories.

Helix CEO James Lu stated that the integration of large-scale clinico-genomic data has become a foundational resource for modern therapeutic development. The arrangement is designed to facilitate targeted follow-on studies, allowing the biopharmaceutical giant to move beyond basic discovery into more precise, data-driven medicine. This move marks a strategic expansion of Helix’s influence in the life sciences sector, positioning their North American network as a primary engine for clinical research.
