The "Clean Up Florida Waters" initiative, organized by Florida Realtors, mobilizes volunteers to address pollution across the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and various inland streams. In 2025, the project spanned 239 miles of waterways, drawing 2,050 participants who dedicated over 700 hours to restoration efforts. Chuck Bonfiglio Jr., president of the 2026 Florida Realtors, emphasized that the health of these ecosystems remains a primary driver for both residents and visitors in the Sunshine State.
Florida Realtors Mobilize Statewide for Annual Waterway Cleanup
Nearly 16 tons of debris, ranging from common plastic waste to discarded freezers and sake bottles, were hauled from Florida’s shorelines last year. This July, the state’s real estate professionals are returning to beaches, lakes, and rivers for the sixth consecutive year to maintain the natural assets that define the region.
Local associations are currently coordinating with environmental groups, including the Coastal Conservation Association and various Waterkeepers organizations, to expand their reach. The effort is supported by Stellar MLS and Coast 2 Coast MLS Data Share. Residents looking to participate or locate local cleanup sites can find registration details through the official Florida Realtors portal.
