The donation marks a deepening partnership between the Tokyo-based firm and the city where it has maintained a presence since 1980. With roughly 6,500 employees currently operating across 16 local sites, transcosmos intends for the capital to bolster the city's DX Reskilling Program. This initiative focuses on teaching advanced ICT skills, such as web development and programming, to help disabled individuals secure long-term employment within the private sector.
transcosmos invests in Sapporo’s digital workforce for disabled residents
Sapporo Mayor Katsuhiro Akimoto honored transcosmos with the Medal of Dark Blue Ribbon on July 7, recognizing the company's fiscal contributions to the city. The funds, channeled through Japan’s corporate furusato nozei tax program, are earmarked for specialized digital training initiatives for persons with disabilities living in the region.

For the company, the contribution serves as both a gesture of gratitude for decades of regional support and a strategic move toward social sustainability. By aligning its corporate resources with Sapporo’s welfare policies, the firm aims to foster a more inclusive labor market. The city will utilize the support to bridge the gap between traditional vocational training and the demands of the modern digital economy, ensuring that local residents have the technical proficiency required for today’s competitive workforce.
