Canaccord Wealth and Greenberg Traurig Announce Key Leadership Moves

A series of high-profile appointments is reshaping the landscape of wealth management and legal advisory in Europe, as Canaccord Wealth bolsters its investment team in the UK and Greenberg Traurig launches an integrated tax practice in Milan to capture growing demand for cross-border financial expertise.

Canaccord Wealth and Greenberg Traurig Announce Key Leadership Moves

At Canaccord Wealth, Guy Thornewill has been appointed as direct equities director, bringing extensive experience from his previous roles at Pie Funds and Ruffer. His arrival coincides with a leadership transition at the top: Tom Becket will move from co-chief investment officer to the sole CIO position this October, following the departure of Richard Champion. Thornewill’s mandate focuses on global equity research and portfolio construction, a move Becket describes as critical to the firm’s strategy of strengthening its direct equities capability.

Simultaneously, Greenberg Traurig is expanding its footprint in Italy by launching an integrated tax practice in Milan. The firm has recruited a specialist team from Di Tanno Associati, led by new shareholder Luca Marraffa, and added Giovanni Monte from Chiomenti to head tax litigation. This expansion integrates the Milan office more deeply into the firm’s broader European platform. Executive chairman Richard A. Rosenbaum noted that the move is part of a concerted effort to attract top-tier talent in key markets, following a period of significant growth for the Milan office across its banking, finance, and corporate practices.
