Reynders brings three decades of experience in computational mathematics and data science to the role. His mandate involves bridging the gap between the company’s curation capabilities and the practical demands of organizations struggling to standardize fragmented biomedical information for artificial intelligence applications. CEO Chris O’Brien noted that Reynders’ history as a buyer of such services—having managed data teams at firms including Alexion and AstraZeneca—provides a critical perspective for shaping the company’s product roadmap.
John Reynders Joins Rancho BioSciences Board to Drive Data Strategy
San Diego-based Rancho BioSciences has appointed industry veteran John Reynders to its board of directors, tasking the former Moderna and Neumora executive with aligning the company’s semantic data infrastructure with the pressing requirements of pharmaceutical and biotech research leaders.

Throughout his career, Reynders has focused on the architecture required to turn raw biological data into actionable drug development insights. As the founding CIO of Moderna, he built the cloud infrastructure that supported early mRNA therapeutic design. His background also includes leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson and Neumora Therapeutics, where he prioritized the integration of biomarkers and informatics. By securing a leader with this specific technical pedigree, Rancho BioSciences aims to accelerate its growth as it scales to meet the pharmaceutical industry's increasing need for decision-grade, AI-ready data sets.
