Samyang Corporation Launches Fibernova Crystalline Fiber at IFT 2026

Amid shifting global demand for functional nutrition, South Korea’s Samyang Corporation debuted its new crystalline dietary fiber brand, Fibernova, at the IFT 2026 expo in Chicago. The launch highlights a strategic pivot toward prebiotics that offer both high purity and sugar-reduction capabilities for the modern food industry.

The brand name Fibernova derives from a combination of fiber and the Latin nova, signaling the company's move to modernize prebiotic offerings. At the core of this line is Kestose, a fructooligosaccharide that achieves over 99% purity. Unlike traditional fibers, its crystalline structure allows it to provide roughly 30% of sugar's sweetness while containing only 1% sugar, making it a versatile candidate for functional beverages and nutrition-focused snacks.

Samyang is pairing this launch with its proprietary 3S (Smart, Simple, Successful) solution. This AI-driven tool assists food manufacturers in calculating optimal ingredient ratios, effectively streamlining the R&D process for sugar-reduced products. By inputting specific targets for cost and formulation, developers can bypass lengthy trial-and-error cycles. The company is demonstrating these capabilities at its Chicago booth through practical applications, including electrolyte drink sticks and pectin gummies formulated with allulose and resistant maltodextrin.

These developments come as the global market recalibrates around GLP-1 trends, with consumers increasingly prioritizing satiety and metabolic health. According to Jung Jisuk, Head of the Food Business Unit, the goal is to balance stringent sugar reduction with the sensory experience consumers expect. Alongside the new Fibernova line, Samyang continues to leverage its existing portfolios, including Nexweet allulose and Fiberest resistant maltodextrin, to capture a larger share of the international specialty ingredients sector.
