BlackPine Communities Taps Merlot Marketing for Nānā Kai Launch

Sacramento-based Merlot Marketing has been named agency of record for Nānā Kai, a luxury master-planned community on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. The agency will spearhead the residential project’s marketing strategy and storytelling as it prepares to bring its $1.5 million to $2.6 million ocean-view homes to market.

The development, located on the South Kohala Coast, represents a collaboration between developer Somers West and builder BlackPine Communities. With the project positioned between the commercial energy of Kona and the quiet of the Kohala region, the marketing campaign will emphasize the community’s architectural integration with the volcanic landscape and its focus on indoor-outdoor living.

Mike Paris, founder and COO of BlackPine Communities, noted that conveying the project's specific sense of place requires a partner with both sensitivity and precision. Merlot Marketing plans to deploy its PR.0™ strategy to manage the brand’s digital presence, social media engagement, and media relations. According to Debi Hammond, CEO and founder of Merlot, the campaign aims to translate the community's unique connection to the land into a narrative that resonates with buyers seeking privacy and long-term residence. Sales efforts for the property are supported by the on-island partner Hapuna Realty.
