The acquisition grants Truecaller control over the Los Angeles-based startup, which has developed a niche by offering VoIP calling and secondary phone numbers as a cost-effective alternative to traditional mobile carriers. TextPlus currently serves approximately 1.5 million monthly active users and reported $5.2 million in adjusted net revenue for the twelve-month period ending in May 2026, marking a 45% compound annual growth rate since 2023.
Truecaller acquires US-based TextPlus for $15 million
Stockholm-based Truecaller has signed an agreement to purchase the American communications firm TextPlus for $15 million, aiming to accelerate its expansion into the US market. The deal, which will be financed using the company's own cash reserves, is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026.

For Truecaller, the move is a strategic play to broaden its service ecosystem. By integrating TextPlus’s proprietary infrastructure, the company plans to introduce new features such as business-focused number solutions and internet-based calling. Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, noted that the cultural alignment and financial discipline of the 14-person TextPlus team were key drivers in the decision to join forces. Following the transaction, TextPlus founder Scott Lahman stated the partnership would focus on restoring trust in mobile connectivity, a core mission shared by both organizations.
