Pratt & Whitney Canada Secures $1 Billion Engine Overhaul Contract
A $1 billion contract awarded to Pratt & Whitney Canada will see the company overhaul more than 750 PT6A-68 engines powering the U.S. Joint Primary Aircraft Training System. The nine-year agreement, issued by V2X Inc., ensures long-term sustainment for the T-6 trainer fleet used by military aviation students.
Frédéric Lefebvre, vice president of Customer Service Operations at Pratt & Whitney Canada, noted that the maintenance work is critical to keeping trainer aircraft available for incoming classes of aviators. Chris Abrams, vice president of V2X Aerospace Solutions, cited the long-standing collaboration between the two firms as a primary reason for the partnership’s continued success. The agreement reinforces a sustainment model that keeps the T-6 fleet operational through the Contractor Operated and Maintained Base Supply program.
