Atlantic City Casinos Rally for Annual Suicide Prevention Walk

More than $1 million has been raised by the Atlantic-Cape Out of the Darkness Walk since 2018, establishing it as New Jersey’s largest suicide prevention event. On September 20, 2026, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will host the walk for the seventh consecutive year to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

General Manager Michael Sampson, who also serves on the AFSP New Jersey Chapter Board, noted that the ongoing collaboration with local community partners remains vital to funding mental health research and support services. The event continues to draw significant participation from across the region, turning a local initiative into a statewide movement for suicide awareness.

For the third year running, the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) has mobilized employees from every casino property in the city to join the effort. George Goldhoff, President of both the CANJ and Hard Rock Atlantic City, emphasized that the industry-wide participation reflects a collective commitment to addressing mental health challenges within the local community. Since 2019, this unified industry involvement has contributed over $1.2 million toward the foundation's mission.
