Nooklab is countering this cycle by developing a dedicated AI screen designed to capture context and organize commitments without requiring users to act as operators for their own software.

The startup, founded in 2026, aims to move beyond the current smartphone and wearable landscape. Instead of adding another app to an already crowded digital ecosystem, the company is prototyping hardware that functions as a persistent, low-distraction interface. The goal is to surface relevant information at precise moments, turning scattered thoughts and ideas into actionable steps that the AI tracks independently.

Raymond Zhao, founder and CEO of Nooklab, argues that current AI tools demand too much management from the user. Zhao, who previously held leadership roles at consumer electronics firms including OPPO, OnePlus, and ByteDance, intends for this hardware to integrate into daily life rather than creating new administrative burdens. Early access sign-ups are scheduled to open this October, with the company expected to disclose final design specifications and feature sets later this year.
