Tuya Smart Backs Robopoet in Push for Physical AI Commercialization

Tuya Smart has joined a RMB 100 million pre-A funding round for Robopoet, signaling an aggressive strategy to bridge the gap between AI software and physical hardware. The investment follows the commercial success of Robopoet’s Fuzozo companion, which has moved nearly 300,000 units in the domestic market as of June 2026.

The partnership between the two companies began in 2025, with Tuya providing the global cloud infrastructure that enabled the Fuzozo to function as an interactive emotional companion. According to Alex Yang, Tuya’s co-founder and COO, 2026 represents a critical threshold where AI-native hardware is shifting from experimental tech to mass-market reality. During China’s recent 618 Shopping Festival, the Fuzozo alone accounted for 40,000 sales, securing the top spot in Tmall’s AI toy category.

Beyond individual product success, Tuya is leveraging its AI+IoT ecosystem to standardize how hardware developers bring products to market. By deploying proprietary tools such as the WukongAI 3.0 platform and OmniMem V2.0 memory system, the company intends to reduce the R&D hurdles for independent hardware creators. This ecosystem approach was further validated by the performance of other Tuya-empowered devices, including the AOOMII Smart AI Companion Robot and the Wozzi series, which maintained strong momentum across major e-commerce platforms like JD.com.
