The research, which focused on adults aged 65 and older and patients with phlebolymphedema, highlights a clear performance gap between the two treatment modalities. In the elderly cohort, those using Dayspring achieved a mean limb volume reduction of 353.9 mL, dwarfing the 10.7 mL reduction seen with standard pneumatic devices. Beyond physical measurements, 86% of patients adhered to their prescribed Dayspring regimen, compared to only 55% for the pneumatic alternative.

Patients suffering from lymphedema and phlebolymphedema saw significantly better outcomes using the mobility-enabled Dayspring system compared to traditional advanced pneumatic compression devices, according to new subgroup analyses from the TEAYS randomized controlled trial published this week.
Similar trends emerged among patients with phlebolymphedema—a condition stemming from chronic venous insufficiency. Dayspring users experienced a 424.4 mL reduction in limb volume, while pneumatic device users saw a reduction of only 50.8 mL. Dr. Michael Barfield, lead investigator at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, noted that this specific population requires evidence-based interventions due to the complex interaction between venous hypertension and lymphatic dysfunction. Across both study groups, a vast majority of participants—77% of seniors and 85% of phlebolymphedema patients—expressed a clear preference for the Dayspring system, citing improved quality of life and the ability to remain mobile during active therapy.
