Albemarle Chairman and CEO Kent Masters noted that Bartolomeo’s extensive background in mining, metals, and logistics will be critical as the company executes its current strategy and aims to bolster its competitive position. During his tenure at Vale from 2019 to 2024, Bartolomeo oversaw significant operational and cultural transformations across the company’s global business lines.
Albemarle Appoints Former Vale CEO Eduardo Bartolomeo to Board
Eduardo Bartolomeo, the former chief executive officer of global mining giant Vale S.A., has joined the board of directors at Albemarle Corporation. His appointment, effective July 21, 2026, brings three decades of industrial leadership to the lithium producer as it seeks to navigate complex global supply markets.

Beyond his recent executive role, Bartolomeo previously served as the head of Nova Transportadora do Sudeste and chaired Log-In Logística Intermodal. He holds dual MBA degrees from MIT and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, as well as a degree in metallurgical engineering. At Albemarle, he will serve on the Audit & Finance Committee and the Safety, Sustainability, Operations & Capital Committee, while maintaining his current board seat at the Massachusetts-based Boston Metal, Inc.
