Monk Deploys AI Voice Agent to Automate Accounts Receivable Calls

With roughly $10 trillion in invoices currently unpaid globally, New York-based platform Monk is attempting to bridge the gap between email-heavy collections and the high-conversion potential of phone outreach by launching Voice Collections, an AI-native system capable of managing both outbound dunning calls and inbound customer inquiries.

Monk Deploys AI Voice Agent to Automate Accounts Receivable Calls

Finance teams have long identified the telephone as their most effective tool for recovering overdue payments, yet the high cost—often between $12 and $18 per manual call—has kept most departments tethered to email. Monk’s new feature integrates its existing AI agent, Julia, into the voice channel, allowing it to execute automated outreach based on specific collection playbooks while maintaining a dedicated business number for customer callbacks.

Security remains a primary focus for the deployment. The platform employs strict guardrails that restrict the agent to read-only access, preventing it from altering invoice data or processing sensitive financial changes. By cross-referencing company names and invoice numbers before disclosing information, the system maintains audit trails that align with existing email histories. This approach aims to scale collections efforts without requiring additional headcount, building on the company's existing record of resolving 88.2% of collection tasks without human intervention.
