The merger, pending approval from Switzerland’s financial regulator FINMA, unites two firms with closely aligned investment philosophies. J Stern & Co intends to retain its Zurich office while establishing a expanded hub in Geneva at the former bvo capital headquarters. Following the integration, bvo capital CEO Cedric Coignard will join the J Stern & Co leadership team as a partner and member of the investment committee, alongside partner Laurent Pallanca.
J Stern & Co Expands Swiss Footprint With bvo capital Merger
Independent asset manager J Stern & Co will absorb Geneva-based bvo capital to consolidate its Swiss operations, a move that pushes the firm’s total managed assets past the $2.8 billion mark. The deal reflects a broader trend of industry consolidation across Europe as firms seek greater scale and shared research capabilities.

Management emphasized that the transaction will not disrupt existing operations. The firm’s flagship World Stars Global Equity strategy, which accounts for over $2.3 billion of the combined assets, will continue to be managed by Christopher Rossbach and Katerina Kosmopoulou. Jérôme Stern, managing partner and CEO of J Stern & Co, noted that the combination strengthens the firm's resource base in both independent research and client servicing. This consolidation marks a significant step for the firm, which traces its origins to the 19th-century Stern banking dynasty, as it continues to grow its international presence from offices in London, New York, Zurich, and Malta.
