Tyler Adams Returns to Wappinger to Unveil Renovated Soccer Pitch

The grass at the Wappinger soccer pitch, where U.S. Men's National Team star Tyler Adams once cut his teeth, has been entirely reclaimed. On July 22, the midfielder joined Scotts to officially reopen his namesake field, a project aimed at revitalizing local youth sports infrastructure through the company’s Keep It Real initiative.

The restoration serves as a homecoming for Adams, who credits the original site with shaping his trajectory as both an athlete and an individual. Beyond the ribbon-cutting ceremony and meet-and-greet sessions, the project signals a broader effort by Scotts to prioritize accessible, natural grass surfaces in communities that need them most. The initiative functions as a collaborative effort involving Project EverGreen, which specializes in the maintenance of healthy green spaces, and Every Kid Sports, a nonprofit focused on removing financial barriers for young athletes by covering registration fees.

John Sass, senior vice president at ScottsMiracle-Gro, noted that the Wappinger renovation exemplifies the core mission of the Keep It Real program. By transforming local fields into high-quality playing surfaces, the partnership attempts to foster environments where children can build confidence and skills outdoors. For the Wappinger community, the field is now positioned to host the next generation of players, effectively bridging the gap between professional athletic success and grassroots accessibility.
