The acquisition brings MYOS’s clinically-studied product portfolio—which includes both consumer-facing supplements and veterinary-exclusive formulas—under the PetIQ umbrella. At the heart of the transaction is Fortetropin, a proprietary bioactive compound designed to support muscle growth by modulating myostatin. Backed by over a dozen clinical studies, the ingredient is used to address muscle loss associated with aging, surgery, and physical injury in dogs, cats, and horses.
PetIQ Acquires Muscle Health Specialist MYOS
PetIQ has finalized its acquisition of MYOS Corp, integrating the company’s patented Fortetropin technology into its broader pet wellness platform. The deal allows the Idaho-based health firm to expand its reach into the specialized muscle health category, targeting owners focused on preventive care, injury recovery, and long-term mobility for their companion animals.
Camillo Pane, CEO of PetIQ, stated that the move aligns with a broader shift in consumer behavior toward proactive pet health. By leveraging PetIQ’s existing national retail and e-commerce infrastructure, the company plans to scale the brand while maintaining the established MYOS identity. Joe Mannello, CEO of MYOS, noted that the partnership provides the necessary distribution and operational support to bring their science-backed solutions to a wider global audience. While financial terms were not disclosed, the integration marks a significant expansion of PetIQ’s current health and wellness offerings, which already include well-known brands such as PetArmor and Minties.
