Vermilion Energy Boosts Production Guidance Following Strong Q2 Results

Vermilion Energy Inc. reported a robust second quarter for 2026, with production averaging 125,789 barrels of oil equivalent per day. This performance, which surpassed internal expectations, prompted the company to lift its full-year production guidance to a range of 121,000 to 123,000 boe/d while maintaining its capital expenditure budget.

The Calgary-based producer generated $231 million in fund flows from operations and $122 million in free cash flow during the quarter. This financial strength enabled a $70 million reduction in net debt, bringing the total debt repayment to $840 million over the last 15 months. Consequently, the company has structurally lowered its unit interest expenses by approximately 35% compared to the previous year. Bolstered by these results, Vermilion has updated its capital return framework, now targeting the distribution of 40% to 60% of excess free cash flow to shareholders, an increase from its prior 40% threshold.

Operational highlights were anchored by the Mica Montney asset and the successful commencement of production at the Wisselshorst discovery in Germany. The Wisselshorst well, described as the company’s largest discovery in Europe to date, is expected to see production growth over the next two years through planned infrastructure investment. Meanwhile, the company continues to focus on its Deep Basin operations, where drilling results have consistently outperformed budget assumptions. Looking ahead, Vermilion remains committed to a disciplined investment strategy, balancing production growth with ongoing share buybacks and a quarterly dividend of $0.135 per share.
