Founded in 2018 by Greg Oberting, Rail Modal Group operates one of the largest private inland intermodal terminal networks in the United States. The company specializes in connecting agricultural producers located far from coastal hubs to global markets by integrating regional terminals with the North American Class I rail network. Oberting will continue to lead the business following the investment.

Ben Marks, Managing Director at Northborne, noted that the platform provides a critical link in the agricultural supply chain. This agreement represents the 17th rail-related transaction completed by Northborne Partners over the last five years. Koley Jessen served as legal counsel to RMG throughout the deal, which positions the company to scale its infrastructure and logistics solutions for North American exports.
