Following the receipt of all necessary regulatory approvals, the firm assumed full ownership and operational control on July 31, marking the launch of its new national retail platform in the cannabis sector.

The transition brings one of Colorado's longest-standing cannabis brands under the management of Verdant, which intends to scale the business while maintaining the existing Native Roots name. Founded in 2009, the retail chain has established a significant footprint in the state, a reputation Verdant CEO Julian Michalowski plans to leverage through increased investment in staff and expanded product offerings.

Josh Ginsberg, a principal at Verdant and co-founder of the original Native Roots brand, described the acquisition as a move to preserve the company's legacy while professionalizing its retail operations.
