Don Roberts to Lead Michigan Tour de Cure for Diabetes Association

Don Roberts, president and CEO of Detroit-based Caracal Products & Services, has been appointed chair of the American Diabetes Association’s Michigan Tour de Cure. He intends to leverage his leadership role to expand health equity and access to care within the state's underserved communities, drawing on his personal history with the disease.

Roberts’ commitment to the cause is rooted in his upbringing in an African American community where diabetes was widespread. His perspective was further shaped by his mother’s career as a school nurse, which exposed him to the struggles of children dealing with undiagnosed or poorly managed conditions. He views the advocacy work not as a corporate duty, but as a personal obligation to his neighbors and friends.

The appointment follows the June 13, 2026, Tour de Cure event held at Domino's Farms in Ann Arbor. That fundraiser successfully generated $370,305 for medical research and advocacy initiatives. Caracal, which has been a consistent supporter of the organization, contributed $2,530 to the total as a team. The American Diabetes Association currently coordinates a massive network of 565,000 volunteers and 12,000 healthcare professionals to address the systemic challenges of obesity and diabetes management across the country.
