Selected fellows will spend the winter of 2027 balancing professional roles at Vail Resorts with participation in CIEE’s Young Civic Leadership Summit. The program emphasizes cross-cultural collaboration, requiring participants to engage in local service projects that benefit their host communities. By integrating community service into the traditional Summer Work Travel model, CIEE intends to provide fellows with practical experience they can apply upon returning home.
CIEE Launches Scholarship for Latin American Exchange Students
Two university students from Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, or Uruguay will soon head to the United States as the inaugural recipients of the BridgeUSA Community Engagement Scholarship. This new initiative combines seasonal work at Vail Resorts with civic leadership training, aiming to foster deeper cultural ties across the Americas.
Recruitment and initial screening for the program are managed by WEUSA, a regional partner tasked with identifying candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to civic involvement. CIEE plans to rotate eligible countries annually to broaden the scholarship's reach. James P. Pellow, president and CEO of CIEE, noted that the initiative aligns with the organization's long-standing mission to advance peace through international exchange. As the largest sponsor for the U.S. Department of State’s BridgeUSA program, CIEE brings over 21,000 participants to the country annually, contributing to both the domestic tourism economy and long-term international diplomacy.
