Local entrepreneur Pratik Patel is spearheading the expansion. With over 15 years of hospitality experience in Howard and Anne Arundel counties, Patel views the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre as an ideal setting for the brand's signature menu. The restaurant will feature staples like The Shaq Attack and The Ultimate, alongside a new limited-time Root Beer BBQ dipping sauce.
Shaquille O'Neal’s Big Chicken Expands to Maryland With Gambrills Debut
The first 100 guests in line at 1407 South Main Chapel Way will receive free tenders on August 8, 2026, as Shaquille O'Neal’s Big Chicken opens its first standalone Maryland location. Following a successful run at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena, the fast-casual brand is planting roots in the Gambrills suburban dining hub.

Big Chicken CEO Josh Halpern noted that the brand's initial performance at the CFG Bank Arena confirmed a strong local appetite for the concept. The Gambrills storefront is part of a larger growth strategy that has already established over 40 locations across North America, ranging from traditional retail spaces to airports and cruise ships. The new site will operate daily, staying open until 11:00 p.m. on weekends to accommodate the local dinner crowd.
