The bank’s ascent in the SME sector is anchored by a deliberate strategy to expand transactional financing. Carlos Hank Gonzalez, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Financiero Banorte, noted that the institution prioritizes step-by-step guidance for businesses, viewing them as the primary engine of the Mexican economy. This approach materialized through significant investments in point-of-sale technology and enhanced payroll account benefits designed to provide greater financial protection for employees.
Banorte Retains Euromoney SME Banking Award for Third Consecutive Year
With a market share exceeding 14% by the close of 2025, Banorte has secured the Euromoney Best Bank for Small and Medium Enterprises in Mexico award for the third year running. The recognition highlights the bank’s pivot toward specialized digital services and targeted financial inclusion programs for local entrepreneurs.

Financial inclusion remains a core component of this strategy, specifically through the Mujer PyME Banorte initiative. In 2025 alone, the program directed more than 2 billion pesos to over 5,000 women entrepreneurs. Beyond direct capital, the bank paired these financing efforts with dedicated education programs and insurance products, solidifying its presence as a market leader in a highly competitive segment.
