The fundraising effort responds to the ongoing humanitarian crisis triggered by a June 24 earthquake in Venezuela and a subsequent tremor in Colombia on August 10. These disasters left local healthcare providers struggling to operate within damaged facilities, creating a critical need for sustained medical resources.
Pollo Campero Targets August 25 for Earthquake Relief Fundraiser
On Tuesday, August 25, Pollo Campero will donate 25% of sales from participating U.S. locations to Direct Relief. The initiative aims to provide long-term medical aid and recovery support for communities in Venezuela and Colombia following devastating earthquakes that struck the regions in June and August.
Karla Patino, vice president of marketing and sales, noted that the initiative allows U.S. customers to convert routine meals into tangible assistance for families facing a lengthy recovery process. Direct Relief, the partner organization for this event, has already deployed over 11 tons of medical supplies and $400,000 in emergency grants to Venezuelan providers since the initial June disaster. Jennifer Lotito, chief external affairs officer at Direct Relief, emphasized that such corporate partnerships are essential for extending the reach of humanitarian response efforts beyond what any single entity could achieve independently.
