Veridian Credit Union integrates Greenlight tools for youth finance

Parents struggling to teach money management now have a direct pathway through their banking app, as Veridian Credit Union teams up with Greenlight to offer family financial tools at no cost. The integration aims to bridge the gap in financial literacy by embedding debit cards and educational games directly into the Veridian platform.

The partnership allows Veridian members to access Greenlight’s suite of features, including automated allowances, chore management, and transaction monitoring, without additional fees. Children gain hands-on experience through a dedicated debit card and the 'Level Up' in-app game, which teaches earning, saving, and spending strategies under parental supervision. Veridian Chief Experience Officer Mark Koppedryer noted that establishing healthy habits early is essential for long-term financial well-being.

This move addresses a significant educational deficit in the United States, where only 39 states mandate personal finance coursework. Data shows that teens average only 67% on the National Financial Literacy Test, and many parents cite money management as their most challenging life skill to impart. By embedding these tools directly into the mobile banking experience, Veridian and Greenlight aim to simplify the process of raising financially literate children.
