The clinic, located within the existing Dental Health Clinic, marks the eighth service line for the Eastern Iowa Health Center. By utilizing the 20/20NOW platform, the center provides professional eye examinations and prescriptions without the constant physical presence of an on-site optometrist. This model allows the health center to scale its offerings to its annual base of more than 23,000 patients, regardless of their financial status.
Eastern Iowa Health Center Adds Remote Eye Care to Cedar Rapids Clinic
Patients in Cedar Rapids now have access to comprehensive vision screenings through a new tele-optometry clinic launched by the Eastern Iowa Health Center. The facility, which began operations on July 20, integrates remote diagnostic technology to bridge the gap in local eye care services for thousands of underserved residents.

Joe Lock, president and CEO of the center, emphasized that the initiative addresses a persistent gap in community healthcare. The technology pairs high-resolution diagnostic equipment with real-time consultations from licensed optometrists. According to Dr. Noelle Tchang, vice president of clinical services at 20/20NOW, this approach facilitates earlier detection of ocular issues, ensuring that quality care remains accessible to those who previously faced barriers to traditional appointments.
