Galmed subsidiary completes clinical feasibility study for tissue assessment
A feasibility study conducted across three Israeli medical centers has successfully demonstrated the viability of a new intraoperative technology designed to assess colon tissue quality. The project, led by Colospan, a subsidiary of Galmed Pharmaceuticals, achieved a 100% success rate in quantitative measurements among 32 colorectal cancer patients.
This platform complements Colospan’s existing CG-100 intraluminal bypass device, aligning with Galmed’s broader strategy to expand its portfolio of GI oncology and surgery solutions. According to company leadership, the technology aims to provide surgeons with precise data that may eventually help identify patients at higher risk for complications like Low Anterior Resection Syndrome. Following these results, the company plans to advance the platform toward future regulatory submissions and expanded clinical trials.
