Atopic dermatitis stems from a compromised skin barrier, a failure that allows allergens and pathogens like Staphylococcus aureus to trigger chronic inflammation. While traditional prescription treatments focus on dampening the immune system, the New Day™ spray utilizes a soluble silk fibroin peptide matrix. Upon application, this matrix self-assembles into a breathable, flexible layer that reinforces the skin, physically blocking irritants and allowing the barrier to repair itself.
Evolved By Nature Secures FDA Clearance for Peptide-Based Skin Therapy
Needham-based Evolved By Nature has secured FDA 510(k) clearance for New Day™ Skin Spray, the first prescription medical device built on its proprietary programmable peptide platform. Developed by Evolved Health, the topical emulsion spray targets the structural root of atopic dermatitis rather than suppressing immune responses.

This launch marks a significant shift for Evolved By Nature, which spent over a decade developing its manufacturing platform. CEO Greg Altman noted that the company is now scaling its ability to map and productize millions of molecules from its library, aided by artificial intelligence. By separating the roles of technology development and commercialization, the company aims to accelerate its entry into additional medical and biologic fields. The treatment is currently entering select markets through a partnership with PHILRx, offering a non-steroidal alternative for patients seeking management of skin dryness and dermatitis.
