The Longmont site features specialized infrastructure, including welding labs and an ISO 7 clean room, to accelerate the delivery of orbital maneuverability systems. By shifting avionics and propulsion work to this new location, the company aims to meet mounting customer demand while streamlining production for its Hadley and Draper engines, alongside the HAVOC Missile System.
Ursa Major Expands Colorado Operations with New Longmont Facility
Ursa Major has officially opened a manufacturing hub in Longmont, Colorado, designed to house over 125 employees. This facility focuses on avionics and in-space propulsion systems, allowing the company to clear space at its Berthoud headquarters for a surge in liquid engine production and solid rocket motor assembly.

During the August 20 ribbon-cutting ceremony, CEO Chris Spagnoletti emphasized that the expansion addresses current supply chain bottlenecks, positioning the company to provide faster, more adaptable hardware for defense needs. Colorado Governor Jared Polis attended the event, noting that the growth reinforces the state's role as a global leader in the aerospace and defense sectors. This move follows a successful Phase 1 manufacturing scale-up completed in March, which bolstered the company's additive manufacturing and testing capabilities. Ursa Major now operates across six sites, including locations in Ohio and Washington, D.C., as it continues to revitalize the national defense industrial base.
