The airport handled 673,413 passengers in July, bringing the total for the first seven months of 2026 to 4,085,992. This represents a 1.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025. While domestic travel saw a slight cooling of 1.5% year-to-date, the international sector proved resilient, accounting for 403,385 passengers as the airport maintains its appeal to global carriers.

Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, credited the growth to the region's economic strength and the confidence of airline partners. Southwest Airlines remains the dominant carrier at the facility, capturing 34.4% of the market share, followed by American Airlines at 14.8% and Frontier Airlines at 11.9%. Beyond passenger travel, the airport is also expanding its logistics footprint, reporting a 7% year-to-date increase in air cargo tonnage, further cementing its status as an essential link in the global supply chain.
