Jury Awards $56.5M to Navy Veteran Beaten at Las Vegas Strip Bar

The jury assigned zero fault to Alrabadi, finding both Caesars Entertainment and Three Amigos Restaurant Group liable for the 2021 attack at Chayo Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar. Evidence presented in the Eighth Judicial District Court revealed that security personnel not only initiated the confrontation but also failed to call 911 after the victim was left unconscious. Instead of providing aid, staff were captured on footage appearing to interact cordially with the unidentified assailants who had chased and severely beaten the veteran.

Legal proceedings uncovered that the defense initially withheld 1,013 surveillance videos, only producing them after the discovery period ended. Judge Jasmin Lilly-Spells subsequently barred the defendants from using the late-disclosed evidence and instructed jurors they could infer the missing footage was damaging to the defense. Medical experts, including noted forensic neuropathologist Dr. Bennett Omalu, testified that Alrabadi’s skull fractures and brain hemorrhaging nearly resulted in his death. The veteran, who served eight years in the Navy, is now unable to continue his pursuit of an engineering degree due to the permanent neurological damage sustained during the assault.
