AIDS Walk Los Angeles Returns to West Hollywood for 42nd Year

The two-mile route through the Rainbow District serves as both a commemoration of those lost to the epidemic and a call to address the widening gap between medical capability and public access. While advancements such as PrEP, PEP, and long-acting injectables have rendered HIV a manageable condition for many, financial and geographic barriers continue to restrict these resources for low-income and uninsured populations.

APLA Health CEO Craig E. Thompson warned that the greatest threat to past progress is the misconception that the crisis has concluded. He emphasized that the organization refuses to accept a healthcare landscape where an individual's wellbeing is dictated by their income level or residential ZIP code. Last year, the event successfully raised $1.05 million to support these efforts. Registration for the walk is currently open to the public, with the opening ceremony featuring community activists and live performances before the march commences at 10:30 a.m.
