Through artifacts, immersive sound design, and historical imagery, the museum reconstructs the vibrant world of Indiana Avenue, where Wiggins secured four major championships.

For over 90 years, the Wiggins Special—a custom-built race car that dominated the Gold & Glory Sweepstakes—remained lost to time. On September 19, 2026, LeMay – America's Car Museum in Tacoma will finally unveil the machine and the extraordinary life of its builder, Charlie Wiggins, to a national audience.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is the original Wiggins Special, a one-of-a-kind vehicle that has been recovered and restored specifically for this premiere. Welburn, who has spent years championing Wiggins’ legacy, views the project as a personal mission to transform how the public understands automotive heritage. The opening week includes a series of private previews and media events beginning September 11, culminating in a public celebration on September 19 that coincides with the museum's Family STEAM Day.
