CAPTRUST Foundation Distributes $810,000 to 81 National Charities

The CAPTRUST Community Foundation marked its seventh annual Giving Day by distributing $810,000 in grants to 81 nonprofit organizations across the United States. Each selected charity received a $10,000 donation, with local CAPTRUST offices choosing recipients that align with the foundation’s mission to enrich the lives of children.

The foundation, which operates as a 501(c)(3) entity, relies on its national branch network to identify regional causes. By decentralizing the selection process, the organization ensures that funding reaches community-based programs that resonate with the specific needs of local teams and their neighbors. These grants support a diverse range of initiatives, spanning educational programs, health services, and family support systems.

Heather Shanahan, president of the foundation and senior director of endowments and foundations at CAPTRUST, described the initiative as a hallmark of the firm’s outreach strategy. She noted that the event serves as a catalyst for employee engagement, allowing staff to collaborate directly with organizations making tangible impacts on families. Since its inception in 2007, the foundation has functioned as the primary vehicle for CAPTRUST employees to coordinate community service and philanthropic efforts.
