According to the report, room planners achieved a 29.7% project save rate, signaling that consumers are using these platforms for complex research rather than one-off clicks. Modular configurators further bolstered this trend, capturing a 16% add-to-cart rate alongside a 2.2% purchase conversion rate.
3D Commerce Report Reveals Shift Toward Project-Based Shopping
Shoppers are increasingly turning to interactive 3D tools to plan home improvements, with data from 40 major global retailers showing that room planners now command nearly 20-minute user sessions. The latest 3D Cloud benchmark for Q2 2026 tracks over $10 billion in annual sales, highlighting a surge in digital project-based purchasing.

The study notes that 360-degree product spins and augmented reality tools remain essential for closing high-consideration deals, as they provide the visual confidence necessary for buyers to commit to large-scale purchases.
