LG Debuts ThinQ Claw AI Agent to Automate Household Routines

The introduction of ThinQ Claw marks a departure from traditional command-based smart home apps. Built on the OpenClaw architecture, the system functions as an intuitive assistant capable of synthesizing disparate data points—such as grocery receipts, arrival times, and air quality metrics—to preemptively adjust home environments. In the kitchen, the agent suggests recipes based on existing inventory, while in living zones, it autonomously manages climate control and vacuum schedules by analyzing the user's current status rather than relying on rigid, pre-programmed rules.

This expanded ecosystem is underpinned by the Homey platform, which LG acquired in 2024 to solve interoperability issues between various hardware brands. At the IFA demonstration, the company is showcasing a Home Energy Management System (HEMS) that orchestrates solar panels, batteries, and EV chargers in real time to capitalize on dynamic energy pricing. Beyond residential applications, LG is also bringing its ThinQ Pro solution to the European market, extending these management capabilities to commercial and multi-family housing facilities. Baek Seung-tae, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company, noted that the focus remains on creating systems that respond fluidly to the unique demands of each user's day, secured by the company's proprietary LG Shield framework.
