The railway serves as a vital artery for local commerce. In the Qiangtang grassland, cold-chain transport allows perishable milk to reach nationwide markets, while the Qarhan Salt Lake leverages the line to ship over four million tonnes of potash fertilizer annually. Near the Xining station, the Jiuying Cordyceps Trading Market has grown into a powerhouse hosting 20,000 businesses with an annual transaction volume surpassing 10 billion RMB. For traders like Ma Ke, the line replaced days of arduous driving with a simple train ride, effectively pulling the region into the national supply chain.
Beyond commerce, the project integrated environmental stewardship into its infrastructure. The line features a comprehensive supervision system, including wildlife corridors for species like the Tibetan antelope, which has seen its population grow to over 300,000. These corridors and the restoration of nearly 8 million square meters of vegetation have established a framework for balancing industrial expansion with ecological preservation.
