The bank, which first opened its Manchester office in 2022, now occupies a space that deputy head of private clients Duncan Gourlay describes as a fusion of history and innovation. This expansion mirrors a sector-wide trend as institutions including UBS, Julius Baer, and Coutts strengthen their footprints across the UK to maintain closer proximity to regional clients.
Weatherbys is balancing its 250-year heritage with a push into digital infrastructure, aiming to provide a high-touch, relationship-led service supported by modern technology. The Manchester branch, currently staffed by eight employees under the leadership of senior private banker Michelle Duncalf, expects to increase its headcount as the bank deepens its commitment to the North West. For the family-owned group, which includes specialized arms like Arkle Finance and Weatherbys Racing Bank, the region represents a critical engine for long-term development.
