The program, which stands for Support, Prevent, and Adapt, will be delivered through three six-week cohorts. Each session targets specific stressors inherent to public health work, ranging from sleep hygiene and boundary setting to managing difficult conversations and workplace conflict. By integrating evidence-informed strategies, the partnership aims to provide staff with tangible tools to manage the mounting pressures of their roles.
Wake County and Syra Health Expand Workforce Wellness Initiative
Following a successful pilot, Syra Health and Wake County Public Health are scaling their wellness program to address burnout among front-line staff. The Wellness S.P.A. 2.0 initiative provides employees with resilience-focused training, reflecting a broader push to prioritize mental health support within high-demand public health sectors.

Rebecca Kaufman, Wake County Director of Public Health, noted that the initiative’s expansion is a direct response to positive feedback from initial participants. Syra Health CEO Greg Alexander described the rollout as evidence of a rising national demand for scalable, prevention-focused employee solutions. With the second cohort currently underway, the organizations have already scheduled a third round for early 2027 to ensure continued access to these resources for the county’s workforce.
