Nearly one-third of GLP-1 users now report being more selective about their grocery purchases and more diligent in planning their daily meals compared to six months ago. According to research from the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association, these shoppers are moving away from traditional meal structures in favor of nutrient-dense options. Data indicates that 84% of users prioritize foods that provide a sense of satiety, while 81% emphasize high protein content when selecting items.
GLP-1 Users Are Changing How They Shop and Eat
For Americans using GLP-1 medications, the shift in diet goes beyond eating less. A new study shows these consumers are fundamentally rethinking their grocery habits, prioritizing high-protein items and portion-controlled convenience to maximize the nutritional value of every meal as their appetite and eating patterns evolve.

This intentional approach is reshaping supermarket receipts. More than half of those surveyed are purchasing increased amounts of yogurt and cottage cheese, while 43% are buying more protein drinks and 42% are opting for frozen protein sources. Convenience remains a primary driver, but its definition has shifted; consumers now favor frozen and refrigerated goods for their built-in portion control and ease of preparation. To navigate these choices, shoppers are increasingly looking for simplified ingredient lists and clear serving-size guidance on packaging to ensure their selections align with their health objectives.
