Beyond standard CMYK, the inclusion of orange and red inks allows for a wider color gamut, while high-density white ink enables printing on transparent and specialty substrates. Irvine-based Roland DG has unveiled the TrueVis AG-640, a 64-inch wide-format device that integrates contour cutting into a latex printing system for the first time. The machine targets print professionals seeking to consolidate production workflows while utilizing high-density white ink and an expanded color gamut to handle diverse, high-value applications.
Efficiency is managed through the company's VersaWorks 7 RIP software, which incorporates intelligent media handling to reduce waste and setup times. Because the system utilizes instant-dry latex technology, finished graphics can be moved to post-production immediately without outgassing. Ryugo Nimura, Executive Officer of Global Sales and Marketing, noted that the development process prioritized consistent color reproduction and lower operating costs to meet the demands of modern print environments. The low-odor nature of the water-based inks makes the device particularly suitable for installations in sensitive locations, including healthcare facilities, schools, and corporate interiors.
