GL Travel Overhauls Digital Platform to Simplify Educational Planning

Teachers, parents, and students often approach school trips with clashing priorities, leaving travel operators struggling to bridge the gap. Sacramento-based GL Travel is attempting to resolve this friction by launching a redesigned website, built alongside agency Digital Silk, to tailor the planning process for each specific audience.

The new digital hub categorizes resources to address distinct concerns: educators gain streamlined access to trip programs, parents find localized information on safety and value, and students receive previews of their potential destinations. This architecture supports the company’s "Go Beyond the Classroom" mandate, which frames travel as a direct extension of academic curricula rather than a standard excursion.

GL Travel CEO Jeremy Vaa noted that the previous digital footprint failed to capture the personal service his team provides, forcing busy educators to navigate generic interfaces. By integrating a redesigned mega menu and dedicated resource hubs, the company aims to reduce the administrative burden on school organizers.

This overhaul follows a broader strategy to solidify the firm’s market position. With the student travel sector projected to expand by more than 50% over the coming decade, Digital Silk vice president Emily Harris emphasized that the platform is designed to replicate the confidence previously gained only through word-of-mouth referrals. The site is now live at gltravelco.com, marking a shift toward capturing a larger share of the growing demand for full-service academic travel.
