MulticoreWare Acquires Simulus Automation to Bolster Silicon Design
As the semiconductor industry pivots toward hardware-software co-design, San Jose-based MulticoreWare has acquired Simulus Automation. The deal integrates Simulus’ specialized expertise in chip design and verification with MulticoreWare’s software portfolio, effectively bridging the engineering divide between architectural development and final production for high-performance computing platforms.
Beyond hardware design, the acquisition targets persistent data bottlenecks in modern silicon. Simulus brings deep experience in connectivity protocols like CXL and PCIe, which are essential for maintaining high-bandwidth, low-latency communication in distributed processing environments. According to MulticoreWare CEO AGK Karunakaran, this integration allows the company to offer a more unified pipeline, shortening time-to-market for clients navigating the complexities of autonomous systems and intelligent edge devices. Karthick Gopal, CEO of Simulus Automation, noted that the combined engineering force will now focus on scaling AI workloads through cloud-based FPGA emulation, a capability that leverages the global infrastructure of major hyperscalers.
