Now entering its sixth year, the showcase has become a premier destination for elite athletes and college recruiters. By integrating MADD Sports' outreach efforts into the event, organizers aim to use the platform of high-level athletics to reach student-athletes, coaches, and families with critical messaging regarding mental wellness and personal accountability.
Capital Invitational Teams Up with MADD Sports and Uber for Safety
When the nation's top high school girls' basketball teams converge on The St. James in Springfield, Virginia, this December, they will be playing for more than just a win. On December 10, the Capital Invitational will launch a new partnership with MADD Sports and Uber to champion impaired driving prevention.

Uber’s involvement centers on promoting proactive transportation planning, reinforcing the idea that responsible choices should be made long before the final buzzer. According to Stacey D. Stewart, CEO of MADD, the initiative is designed to meet young people in moments that matter, turning the tournament into an opportunity to advocate for safer communities. For the event promoter, Afiba Fairnot, the partnership ensures that attendees leave the venue not only inspired by the competition but also equipped with the tools to make informed decisions off the court.
