The project, overseen by Director General Belqasim Khalifa Haftar, transformed the damaged campus into a modern academic hub. Reconstruction efforts spanned the faculties of engineering, law, science, arts, and languages, alongside the restoration of laboratories, student residences, and essential infrastructure. This initiative serves nearly 100,000 students, reinstating a critical center for higher education that has historically shaped Libya’s professional and scientific workforce.
During the inauguration ceremony, which drew international delegations and ambassadors, the event showcased a drone performance that secured three Guinness World Records. The display included intricate aerial formations of an eagle, a peace symbol, and a quill writing the university’s name across the sky. Beyond physical infrastructure, the Fund has invested in human capital by sponsoring over 1,000 students for overseas study programs.
